San Francisco Show

Hello!

The show at Hotel Utah went well. Peggy and I were worried because between the two of us, we had a grand total of four friends in San Francisco.

I say "had" because they made prior plans (.. like going to the beach.. who goes to the beach at night CHRIS?) and none of them made it to the show so now they're former friends. Let this be a warning to you all!

Each band and Betty and Michael hit the streets around Hotel Utah to hand out flyers and hang posters. This is everyone right outside the venue getting their area assignments.

Everyone outside the Hotel Utah.

Marcus Very Ordinary and Betty

Gregg Tillery and Michael

Everyone stepped up and did a great job. Peggy and I camped out at Panera Bread for literally five hours, furtively tucked into the back corner, leeching wifi.

We worked the digital marketing -- Peggy on official stuff, and I hit up myspace and yelp.

Let me just pause here and say that Yelpers are some of the most friendly people out there. Seriously, thank you guys who responded with good wishes and weren't annoyed by me messaging you!

We all met back at the tour van and drove over to the venue to start unloading gear. Hotel Utah is an intimate venue with great food and drinks. Iris ordered some garlic fries and everyone made an excuse during the night to casually wander over and grab some.

We met Heather and Tim from Blue Rabbit first. It was great meeting all the members of Blue Rabbit -- everyone is so talented and super nice. Their show was amazing. I got two cds, one for Luisa and one for us. Luisa wasn't able to make the San Francisco show so she had me update her constantly throughout the night. You should definitely check Blue Rabbit out on facebook or myspace. Thanks to them, we had a wonderful time in San Francisco.

The Hoof & The Heel performed very well, just like they always do. The only bummer was that the venue was still filling up so the crowd wasn't as large as we would like. Still, The Hoof & The Heel sold 7 cds. Thanks to everyone who purchased one and thanks to Betty for being an excellent salesperson.

Gregg Tillery had a great show, one of the best I've seen from him. Baby Tillery makes us proud.

Marcus Very Ordinary unfortunately had a few technical issues but the trio handled it professionally and played through their set with admirable poise.

We're on the road right now headed to Missouri.. next show.. Lindberg's in Springfield, MO. Oh! A shoutout to all the Missourians at the show last night! Blue Rabbit's drummer Kevin was also from Missouri and his parents were in the audience.

The show in Springfield is on September 22nd.. there's a facebook event. You should rsvp.

Thanks to everyone who came out! We hope you enjoyed it and we expect to see you again!

Barrick LaTona (ps: who will be on the season premiere of House on 09/21! make sure to tune in on FOX.)

The Idyllists: five really cute boys, some with accents.. no wonder they had a room of ladies dancing during their set.

.. and it's actually happening!

Hello all!

The Viper Room Show on the 15th was wonderful, thank you to everyone who showed up in support.

The Hoof & The Heel sold eleven copies of their EP "and all the tigers" that night.. no surprise after a strong opening performance.

Gregg Tlllery did a great set with his drummer Bougarelli and brought in the most people.. testament to Gregg's charisma or his ability to shamelessly harass his friends into supporting him.

Marcus Very Ordinary had several guest musicians performing with them, giving the Viper Room a taste of their live, richly-layered Luxury Wafers Sessions album.

A photo-heavy entry to follow.. right now I'm sitting in the our tour van, writing this! It's a black Dodge Sprinter van from Bandago and it's freakin' awesome. We're packed to full capacity with 12 people and all the assorted gear that comes with touring nationwide.

Peggy and Michael are starting to tetris in the first picture.. and with the help of tetris expert Betty and the band boys, all the gear and luggage were packed neatly! We're still need to fit in LaTona's upright bass but everything worked out.

Jon Lorentz of Marcus Very Ordinary has been driving the whole time.. no idea how he does it.

Perhaps the facial hair gives him extra-manly strength and powers? Seven hours and counting from when he first picked up the van!

However he does it, thanks to Jon for driving us safely and smoothly to San Francisco. We’ll have Gregg give you a backrub while serenading you.

The internet is a bit spotty but it's still pretty cool to be able to work on the road.

We should hit San Francisco in another 250 miles. Cannot wait to see Blue Rabbit! I’ve been following them on facebook and they are the sweetest people ever.

San Francisco show tomorrow! Check it out, buy tickets! Support touring musicians. We’ll rock your face off!
